Your Referral Engine Is Already Built (and Free)

You already recommend Airflow. You just don’t get anything for it yet.

If you run your business on Airflow, odds are you’ve already told another host about it. The friend with two cottages who’s drowning in spreadsheets. The manager you met at a property meetup who’s still chasing balances by email. You mentioned what you use, maybe spelled out the name, and moved on.

That word-of-mouth is the most valuable marketing there is — and until you knew where to look, it earned you nothing. Here’s the part most hosts haven’t noticed: there’s already a full referral toolkit sitting in your Airflow account. A link, a QR code, ready-to-paste social posts, printable cards, and a live stats panel. You didn’t set it up. You don’t pay for it. It’s just there, in your portal, under Referrals.

This post is a tour of what’s in that drawer — and how to turn the recommendations you’re already making into credits in your account.

What’s actually in the toolkit

Open the Referrals page in your portal and you get three tabs. The first one is the growth engine.

Invite a Host. Type another host’s email, add an optional personal note, and Airflow sends them a branded invitation from you — your name, your organisation. They see a clean “you’ve been invited” email with a get-started button, not a cold marketing blast. There’s a live preview right on the page so you can see exactly what lands in their inbox before you hit send.

Your referral link. Every host has one unique referral link tied to their account. Copy it, drop it in a WhatsApp message, an email signature, a forum reply, a DM — anywhere another host might be. When someone signs up through it, the referral is automatically attributed to you. No codes to read out, no manual tracking.

A QR code. The same link, rendered as a scannable QR. Useful at a meetup, on a flyer, in a host group’s notice board — anywhere a printed code beats a typed URL.

Ready-made share assets. You don’t have to write the pitch. The page generates a ready-to-paste social post you can drop straight into a post or story, plus quick-share buttons for email, WhatsApp, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn that pre-fill your link and message. Copy, paste, done.

Printable cards and posters. Want something physical? The toolkit prints a business card (90×55mm) and an A4 poster carrying your QR code. Tuck a card into a welcome pack, pin a poster where other hosts will see it.

Live stats. A small dashboard shows what your sharing has actually done: credits earned, referrals converted, and how many are still pending. The referral history table lists who signed up and where each one stands.

None of this needed configuring. It’s generated from your account the moment you open the page.

What you get for it: credits, for both of you

Here’s where we’re going to be precise, because referral programmes are where products love to oversell. So, plainly:

When a host you refer signs up and processes their first confirmed booking, you both receive 10 Airflow credits. Ten for you, ten for them. The credits are non-expiring and land directly in each account’s credit balance, where they fuel the things credits power across Airflow.

A few honest specifics worth knowing:

  • The reward is credits, not a cash payout. We’re not promising you money or a percentage of anything. The incentive is account credits — useful, real, and yours to keep, but they’re credits.
  • It triggers on the first booking, not the signup. A referred host has to actually start using Airflow — get a real booking through — before the credits are awarded. That’s deliberate. It rewards genuine adoption, not empty sign-ups.
  • It’s automatic. When that first booking is confirmed, Airflow detects the conversion and awards both sides their credits on its own. You don’t claim anything, and you don’t have to chase it. Your stats panel simply updates from “pending” to “converted.”
  • Already an Airflow host? If the person you invite is already a member, the system recognises it and marks them as such — no double-dipping, no confusion.

That’s the whole deal. No fine print we’re hiding, no tiers to unlock, no minimum payout threshold. Refer a host, they take a booking, you both get ten credits.

Why we built it this way

A lot of referral schemes are designed to feel generous and pay out rarely. Big headline reward, then a maze of conditions that quietly ensures most people never qualify.

We went the other direction: a modest, clear reward that actually fires, on a condition that’s good for everyone. Tying the credits to the referred host’s first real booking means the reward lands exactly when the new host has felt Airflow work for them — and it filters out hollow sign-ups that help nobody. You’re not rewarded for spamming a link; you’re rewarded for bringing in a host who genuinely starts using the platform.

And making the whole toolkit free and pre-built reflects a simple belief: the hosts already running their business on Airflow are our best possible advocates. They know the product, they know the pain it solves, and they know other hosts. The least we can do is hand them a proper kit instead of asking them to cobble one together.

One toolkit, two jobs

There’s a bonus tucked into the same page, and it’s worth knowing about. Alongside the host-referral tools, the Referrals page has a tab for sharing your own property — the same link, QR, social, and print machinery, but pointed at your listing or website instead of at Airflow.

So the one page does double duty: it helps you bring other hosts onto the platform and helps you promote your own place to guests. Same controls, same convenience. We’ll dig into the guest-promotion side properly in a future post — for now, just know it’s there when you open the tab.

How to actually use it this week

You don’t need a campaign. You need to point the tools you already have at the conversations you’re already having.

  1. Open Referrals in your portal and copy your link. Paste it into your email signature so every guest and contact you email carries it quietly.
  2. Invite one host by name. Think of a single person you’ve already recommended Airflow to and send them the branded invite, with a one-line personal note. That’s the highest-converting share you’ll ever make.
  3. Drop your social post once. The text is written for you. Paste it into a host group or your own feed.
  4. Print a card if you go to meetups or have a co-working desk. Let the QR do the talking.
  5. Check your stats next month. Watch the pending column. When a referred host takes their first booking, you’ll see it flip — and the credits will already be in your balance.

The principle

You were going to recommend Airflow anyway. The only thing that’s changed is that now there’s a built-in, no-cost toolkit to make those recommendations easy to share and easy to track — and a clear, automatic reward when they land.

Refer a host, they take their first booking, you both earn ten credits. No setup, no cost, no catch. It’s already in your account, waiting in the Referrals tab.
